6 Days Uganda Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari

Safari Overview

This 6 days Uganda safari, takes you trekking in Kibale National Park where you will be able to come face to face with chimpanzees. From there you will continue to Queen Elizabeth National park where you will get a chance to see Africa’s big Four animals during the game drives in Kasenyi area as well as the a memorable boat cruise on the Kazinga channel which is a natural water channel that connects lakes Edward and George. you will proceed to the beautiful Lake Mburo National Park where you will enjoy a boat ride to see the rich birdlife there as well.

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 4:  Game drive and Boat Safari in QENP

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Day 6: Departure to Kampala, End of Safari

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Early morning you will be picked up from your hotel by our representative from Travel Gorge Tours who will double as your driver and guide on this safari. You will begin the journey to western Uganda driving through the beautiful green countryside with a spectacular rolling landscape, past traditional homestead and fresh fruit and vegetable road side markets until you finally make it to Kibale forest National Park, the home of the chimpanzees. This park is also popularly known as the world’s primate capital because of its high number and diversity of primates living within its verdant forests. You will have a stopover in fort Portal town for lunch before transferring to your accommodation on arrival in the park. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

Following breakfast in the early morning, you will be transferred to the starting point of the trek by the driver-guide, and there you will be briefed by the park ranger guide about this fascinating activity of chimpanzee trekking. You will be separated into trekking groups, and led by a ranger guide begin the trek in the forest. the trek takes between 30 minutes to 4 hours, but once you find the chimps, you spend an hour in their midst taking photographs (flashy photography is prohibited) observing them swing from one tree branches to another, feed, as well as play.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Immediately after breakfast, the driver-guide will start you on the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park driving through the Crater lakes region (basing on the conditions of the road) where you will enjoy scenic views of the Rwenzori mountain ranges. Because the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park from Kibale national park is short, you will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will set out on a short game drive to see some of the wild animals, or opt to simply relax back at the lodge as you prepared for the next day’s adventure.

Day 4:  Game drive and Boat Safari in QENP

Have breakfast early morning, and then set out on a game drive led by your driver guide to explore this amazing national park blessed with a rich biodiversity. You will explore the kobs’ mating ground in Kasenyi where you will see various predators making their early morning hunt, in addition to various grazers.  Some of animals you are like to see include: Uganda Kobs, Lions, water-bucks, Leopards, Elephants and buffaloes among many others.

You will have lunch back at the lodge and in the afternoon head out to the Kazinga Channel where you will have a launch cruise to see large schools of hippos, birds and many other animals drinking on its shores.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Today you will enjoy a final breakfast in Queen Elizabeth National Park before beginning on  a relaxed drive to Lake Mburo National Park found in Mbarara. This is Uganda’s smallest Savannah National park. On arrival in the park go on a guided nature walk led by the park ranger-guide or take a boat ride in  the park. You will later have dinner and spend the night at your accommodation.

Day 6: Departure to Kampala, End of Safari

This is the last day of our 6 day primate and wildlife safari in Uganda. You will enjoy a nice breakfast back at your accommodation, before beginning on the return journey to Kampala. Have a stopover for lunch, as well as stop by the Uganda equator to take photographs and by some souvenirs.  The driver will then transfer you to either a hotel of your preference in Kampala or to the airport where you will catch your departure flight. This will mark the end of our safari.
